Course Description
Successful students will learn to operate a forklift truck, to plan the work, conduct routine checks on a forklift truck, shift loads in a safe manner, and safely shut down and secure equipment after completing operations.
Contents
- identifying workplace hazards, control measures and appropriate standards,
- selecting plant appropriate to the load and workplace conditions
- Identifying relevant communication methods and procedures.

- test forklift functions and safety devices

- assess load weight to ensure compliance,
- safely shift load in accordance with procedures,

- respond to any hazards and/or unplanned or unsafe work practices
- park& secure truck to avoid hazards/unauthorised access
- shut down and conduct post-operational checks

Entry Requirements
To obtain a licence, applicants must be able to provide 100 points of identification to Service SA or Australia Post along with the WHS Regulatory Authority Invoice and Notice of Satisfactory Assessment issued through your Assessor.
Delivery & Assesment
Training and assessment is conducted on site and is structured on a flexible basis to meet the needs of the organisation and students and includes classroom theory and practical on-job training. Assessment is competency based and will include a mixture of classroom-based exercises and practical demonstration of skills.

Pathways
Successful assessment outcomes from this training will result in a Statement of Attainment; that may be used for recognition in a relevant qualification.
Materials & Equipment
Students will be provided with all written and physical materials required to complete the assessment. Students must wear long trousers, a long sleave top and steel-capped boots.
