Duty of Care Training
Even in situations where a license to operate machinery or to perform a particular task is not required by law, individuals will still be required to receive training or be adequately supervised when performing work.
This is because all states and territories now have Workplace Health and Safety laws and regulations in place that place a duty of care on a Person Conducting a Business or Undertaking (PCBU)/employer to ensure workplace safety.
This duty of care includes the requirement for employers to ensure the health and safety of workers and to ensure that work being carried out does not entail undue risk to the health and safety of others. To ensure safety, the regulations require PCBU’s to provide instruction, training, information and/or supervision, and to ensure the safe use, handling and storage of plant, structures and substances.
A PCBU will need to show some form of proof that the individual has been instructed on the safe use of equipment and performance of tasks, and this is where duty of care training comes into play, as it provides PCBU’s with valid evidence of compliance with the WHS laws and regulations.
Outside of our scope of Nationally Recognised Training, Transform Training offers duty of care training on a wide variety of plant, equipment and work processes including;
- Confined Spaces
- Working at Heights
- Manual Handling
- Load Slinging
- Front End Loader
- Backhoe Loader
- Skid Steer Loader
- Dozer
- Grader
- Excavator
- Load Restraint
- Safety Supervisor
- Elevating Work Platforms (Yellow Card)
- Telescopic Materials Handler (Gold Card)
+ More
Verification of Competency (VOC)
Our Verification of Competency (VOC) program is here to help you ensure your workforce is currently competent and that you are complying with your obligations under OHS legislation. A VOC is an assessment method used to ensure staff are currently competent in the performance of certain activities (e.g. working in confined spaces or at heights, abrasive blasting, application of protective coatings, asbestos removal) or the operation of certain plant (e.g. elevated work platforms, forklifts, abrasive blasting rigs and protective coatings systems).
Whilst in the past it may have been acceptable to simply ensure your workers held any required work licenses, from 2012 the new Work Health Safety Legislation has put more responsibility onto the employers to ensure they are actually competent in these areas. Employers can therefore no longer assume that an employee is currently competent simply because they hold a relevant licence or qualification.
You can help your business meet its duty of care requirements under the national WHS laws by having your workforce complete our VOC program, which will allow you to demonstrate that reasonable measures we have been taken to ensure the health and safety of all workers on site
Our VOC programs consist of a gap-analysis assessment, a refresher of basic academic and practical training to cover potential deficiencies, and a comprehensive assessment component that allows us to ascertain whether or not an individual has current competency regarding a given skill set. By using our VOC program, you can be sure that your workforce is adequately skilled and that you have fulfilled your obligations as a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU).
We offer VOC programs on a variety of topics including;
- Abrasive Blasting operations and equipment
- Protective Coatings application and systems
- Asbestos removal and supervision
- Working in confined spaces
- Working at heights
- Elevated work platform operation
- Vehicle operation; e.g forklift. front-end loader, excavator.
Custom & Site-Specific Training
Sometimes, the circumstances of work call for customised, site-specific training.
If your staff need training in an obscure field of expertise or using a niche piece of equipment that uniform courses do not adequately cover, we can design and implement a custom training program to suit your every need.
Our industry clients have relied on us for over a decade to fulfil their unique training needs. We have designed and delivered a myriad of tailored training programs for clients that bestow their workforce with the skills and knowledge it truly needs.
Custom, site-specific training is often best delivery live at your worksite or facilities. Since our inception, Transform Training has always had a strong focus on the delivery of client-site training. We have in place policies and procedures that allow for the safe and efficient delivery of on-site training throughout Australia.
Provided the location has the necessary space and equipment required for the delivery of training, on-site training may reduce downtime and accumulative ancillary costs such as student travel.

Training Needs Assessment (TNA)
Our Training Needs Assesment program aims to help organisations by identifying gaps between current performance and organisational objectives, and through the development of a process for the upskilling of staff.
Our assessment process acts as a diagnostic tool for determining what training needs to take place within your business. Our assessors will survey your operations and gather data to determine what training is required to help individuals and the organisation better accomplish their goals and objectives.
During a training needs assessment, we look employee and organisational knowledge, skills, and abilities, to identify key focus areas. Once training needs are identified, we then determine a training strategy to solve any recognised gaps. Contact us to discuss organising a Training Needs Assessment for your workforce today.
