ENSURE YOUR WORKFORCE IS CURRENTLY COMPETENT

Verification Of Competency (VOC) Assesment

Our Verification of Competency (VOC) program is here to help you ensure your workforce is currently competent and that you are complying with your obligations under OHS legislation. A VOC is an assessment method used to ensure staff are currently competent in the performance of certain activities (e.g. working in confined spaces or at heights, abrasive blasting, application of protective coatings, asbestos removal) or the operation of certain plant (e.g. elevated work platforms, forklifts, abrasive blasting rigs and protective coatings systems).

Whilst in the past it may have been acceptable to simply ensure your workers held any required work licenses, from 2012 the new Work Health Safety Legislation has put more responsibility onto the employers to ensure they are actually competent in these areas. Employers can therefore no longer assume that an employee is currently competent simply because they hold a relevant licence or qualification.

You can help your business meet its duty of care requirements under the national WHS laws by having your workforce complete our VOC program, which will allow you to demonstrate that reasonable measures we have been taken to ensure the health and safety of all workers on site.

Our VOC programs consist of a gap-analysis assessment, a refresher of basic academic and practical training to cover potential deficiencies, and a comprehensive assessment component that allows us to ascertain whether or not an individual has current competency regarding a given skill set. By using our VOC program, you can be sure that your workforce is adequately skilled and that you have fulfilled your obligations as a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU). We offer VOC programs on a variety of topics including;

  • Abrasive Blasting operations and equipment
  • Protective Coatings application and systems
  • Asbestos removal and supervision
  • Working in confined spaces
  • Working at heights
  • Elevated work platform operation
  • Vehicle operation; e.g forklift. front-end loader, excavator.
